Intellectual property

Intellectual property consists of a series of personal and/or patrimonial rights which afford authors and other owners the availability and use of their creations and services. Protection is afforded for original literary, artistic or scientific e creations expressed using any format such as books, texts, musical compositions, theatrical productions, choreographic productions, audiovisual productions, sculptures, pictorial works, illustrations, models, maps, photographs, computer programmes and databases.

It also offers protection for artistic interpretations, phonograms, audiovisual recordings and radio broadcasts. Ideas, procedures, operating methods or mathematical concepts as such are excluded, but not the expression thereof. Legal or regulatory provisions are also excluded as well as their respective bills, decisions issued by jurisdictional bodies and the acts of public institutions and the translation of such texts.
